ナイスなときにつかうスラング ”clutch”
Fortniteのゲームで、勝利を決めたとき「clutch」と言われた
褒めてくれているみたいだけど、その意味がわからなくていろいろ聞いてみた。
ネットで調べると スポーツなどの重要なシーンでclutchというようだ。
重要なシーンで、思いがけず勝利を得たようなときにつかえそうなスラング。見つけた使用例は次のようなもの。
clutch shot / clutch situation / What a clutch shot!
どれも形容詞として使っているような気がするけど、彼は clutchedともいったような気がする。
clutchの基本的な意味は、他動詞で「をぐいっとつかむ」「をしっかり握る」
When I won the game, I learned a new slang word “clutch”.
I played Fortnite with Shane.
Shane is better player than me.
He shot the last enemy and had already done a lot of damage. The enemy moved quickly while recovering.
When he hided on the ground hid under the building to recover himself, I found and shot him. We won the match.
It sounded like he said I was clutch or I did clutch. I wasn’t sure.
At first I didn’t understand what it meant. I think he complimented me..
He taught me what it meant.
As usual, I didn’t understand it right away.
Because when I try to understand slang, I’m confused trying to make sense with the basic meaning
Clutch means to grasp tightly, right?
How should I use the word clutch? Can I use it for a verb, an adjective or an uncountable noun? If you like, please correct the following my my following English composions (sentences/examples) .
(“the” and “my” is usually not used together)
“If you like, please correct my examples“
You clutched.
You clutched the match.
That was clutch.
That was a clutch match.
That was a clutch shot.
You did clutch.
That was nice clutch.
I think I made some unnatural English sentences.
Since it’s slang there are really not much rules, I think everything is being used
If i would try to explain clutch: It is coming out of a bad situation by keeping your focus or cool

Clutch means you did something well when it was difficult. I guess it’s an adjective. Slang doesn’t have normal rules
Like if you were getting attacked by two enemies and you defeated both of them. That was clutch
